Salvation Army today -

Large wide mouth canning jars at $0.25 each and 2 pairs of heavy duty walking boots (for me and my Li'l Girl), knitting needles at $1.25 a pair and a rug hook for $0.25 - total cost $30.

Savings $220.00. 😉

Free Rhubarb from a friend and strawberries left over from the tenant = strawberry rhubarb jam. Hasn't set properly though so back into the pan it goes tomorrow.

Some used sheets of corrugated iron that I could use on a chook house - Free of the side of the road
Plant rack that will look just fine and rustic on the front porch - Also free off side of the road
Lounge cushions to put into the dogs kennels that will keep them cosy and warm this winter - More stuff free off the side of the road

I love council clean-ups when everybody in town puts their unwanted stuff on the road side for collection 😀

I love the op-shops they are fantastic places to pick up a bargain

More canning jars - about 30 in total. Needed a good clean and sterlisation but... you can't be FREE 🙂

DH is making me a Canning jar storage system from the free pallets - I'll add it to the "what have you done lately" thread with pictures and take full credit for it when it is finished. 🙂

That is a good one, I got to the church basement this past weekend, and came home with a pair of really nice shorts for DH for a dollar, a real wool blanket for 2 and a second of awesome big heavy glasses for a dollar, and two what are to be ice cube trays that I am reusing to become soap trays for wide bars. I had planned on getting out to a awesome huge farm sale on Monday but Glenda the calf came and so no leaving the farm at that point.

I found about 30 - 1 gallon buckets - most with lids - in the recycling pile at the road from a small bakery near where I live. I bought 5 - 5 gallon buckets with lids from a winery for $3.00 - not free but a good deal since I needed more buckets and was going to have to BUY them FULL price 🙂 Oh Noooooo!

I haven't picked up much lately though I did find another pyrex bowl at the secondhand shop, it's the cinderella bowl with the spouts on either side. No better bowl out there as far as I'm concerned than a vintage pyrex one. I also got a terrific red enamel fondue pot and the kids are eager to give it a try. We gave up our old fondue when the kids were born because of safety reasons but my youngest boys just turned 13.

Dollyndrew - Can't wait to see your photos of the canning storage system out of pallet wood. Mine are all in cardboard boxes but I'm not sure how much longer they'll hold up. I like those plastic storage boxes for the jars but ouch, ouch, ouch the price! https://www.lehmans.com/p-4836-canning-jar-storage-boxes.aspx I haven't counted to see how many jars I have but a few hundred.

It's almost impossible to find good deals on buckets around my neighbourhood. I sometimes see them on craig's list but often they are nasty and dirty looking, no way I'd put food in them.

Went to pick up my goslings, and three bags of raw wool fleeces for a few projects, came home with four more full icelandic fleeces on top of the other bags, one cream, one light brown (think butterscotch) one dark chocolate brown and one black/grey.. major score, o and she threw in a free indian runner duck to boot

like I didn't have enough going on, and put a reserve on a lamb to boot, it will join my flock in the fall..

Oh, is he pretty, or should that be handsome! Picture?

Here are my four Icelandic raw Fleeces, at least with all this rain, I have lots of water in the well and will get all the fleeces (in total nine) cleaned and dried over the next while..

a huge fish tank with a screen on it for the turtle, a new board for tacking rabbit hides on, but the big! score was a two wheel cart for draft use, I will clean it up and it needs to be painted but its perfect for around the farm work, so now I have a four person plus storage /hauling space four wheel buggy for the horse and a two wheel cart.. so pleased!
